The social security system for recognizing occupational diseases for salaried employees is based on disease tables, appended to the Social Security Code.

Each table designates one or more pathologies, describes the nature of the work likely to cause it, and specifies the maximum period of time within which the disease can be recognized, subject in some cases to a minimum duration of exposure.
